Only nominations for employed barristers, as per the definition of an employed barrister in the 2nd Edition of the BSB Code of Conduct (https://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/media/1731225/bsb_handbook_sept_2015.pdf) or those who are dual-capacity, will be accepted. Entrants must have been Called to the Bar of England and Wales and must have an active employed or dual-capacity practising certificate.
Individuals maynominate themselves for an award, or may nominate another employed barrister. Organisations/Employers are also able to nominate individuals for an award.
The Outstanding Performance by a HM Forces Barrister award is only open to those individuals nominated by their Service. Individuals cannot nominate themselves for this award.
Qualifying nominees may be entered in more than one category. There will be no need to submit more than one entry.
Supporting information or external testimonials must not be longer than 15 pages.
The content of any entry may be used for publicity purposes unless the entrant withholds their consent to this in writing. The content of an entry and its publication must therefore be lawful and not confidential.
The judging panel will be comprised of the Chairman of the Bar, the Chair of the Employed Barristers’ Committee, and one other individual.
The decision of the judging panel is final and is not open to appeal.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony on the 30 June 2017, of which further details will be available on the Bar Council website (www.barcouncil.org.uk).
Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and procedures and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition.
